Hi,

I know there are lots of micro-usb cables available, but can anyone recommend any which are good quality with a strong physical connection and actually last?

Thanks

How do people break these cables so often, I have never had any cables (micro USB, lightning etc) actually break and I am not a delicate flower with them.

Usb cables (with the exception of mini) are designed to wear away instead of the sockets.

I wouldn't want to attempt a firmware flash with an old cable.

If you're that bothered then get a proper recognised make from a proper shop.. like belkin or something.

Problem with a lot of "brands" and especially on the rainforest is it's total pot luck as to whether you're buying fakes.. place I used to work at recently had a lightning mfi test rig and the volume of "apple" cables for sale on there which are fake is really surprising.

I mean personally I'd use anything, I've not had an issue with a micro usb cable for years but if you really want to be sure then you need to be buying named from a shop.. prepare yourself for a £10-15 cable but at least you'll have peace of mind.

I've tried porta-pow (red and green) and don't rate them
For a while I had some "juicebitz" cables but they seemed to just all of a sudden become flaky after very little use.

I am now using Anker cables and both the braided and non-braided versions seem to be decent quality.

Yeah I bought a generic brand (RAV Power or something) mixed length set - couple of years on still going strong and I've not exactly treated them gently - recommended to someone else and they'd broken half of them within a couple of months - exactly the same cables.

My flippin son broke one trying to put it the wrong way round in his phone.

Speaking of which expect this to increase this year as Samsung 2017 phones now come with USB-C connectors. Caught me out too. I can see plenty of people trying to use existing phone cables in this slot. It aint gonna fit!
