Excellent, I just saw a formation of 8 or so Red Arrows fly almost directly over my house in Guildford  I went to close the window because its starting to rain, hear a loud jet noise approaching, thinking "uhoh, a heavy on approach for Heathrow is coming in low again", but instead its 8 Red Arrows in a wedge formation, and flying extremely low, no more than 1500 feet over the ground

Where could they be headed to? They were flying in a northern direction...

i was just sitting in my front room and i heard a distant buzzing noise, i went outside as it was getting louder
i couldnt believe it when i looked around and saw 4 prop planes in the distance doing loops the loops and all kinds of fancy manouvres :D

yeah they were at the Cumbria Police Roadsafe event at the racecourse just got back from working there was quite a display :p

I live about 5 miles away from RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire where the Red Arrows were based from 1995 until about the year 2000/1.

Quite often whilst queueing for the bus to school in the mornings we'd be treated to a display of them practicing, occasionally with the diesel smoke trails on.

Quite a nice sight to see in the mornings, but unfortunately seeing them so often kind of takes the magic away if I see them now.

I know how you feel i've seen them so many times i can't remeber. See them all the time out here in akirotiri and often got woken up by them at stupid times in the morning. In fact i think i hate them now.

My other half went to the airshow and said he was really impressed with the A340 and how steeply it could climb and how tightly it could turn etc without passengers on.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH!!! How funny!

Just got back from Farnborough Air Show today, thats where the Reds were heading.

Seriously deaf now from being opposite them when they all went to full throttle before take-off! :D

Pretty good show all round, got some nice photos, and that Airbus A380 is just a beast!

I get a flyby every time the Arrows do a show in the south west :D, they use Exeter as a base while doing the local shows and festivals.

They pass the front of my house within about 1/2 mile and at about 400ft when they come in to land. When they practice manovers its usually outside the front. I think their next visit is next weekend.

From the point of view of someone who only ever sees large commercial jets take off normally (they usually seems to almost "float" in the air), it seemed quite impressive. Obviously to you it isnt.

I wasn't being patronising towards you, sorry if it came across that way. It's just that A340's climb like absolute dogs when full of passengers and they're renowned for it. I was trying to make a joke out of it!

It wasn't directed at you, sorry if I came across as a pleb there :)

Compared to some of the modern high speed craft I think anything climbs like a dog. The Mig 29 on Sunday was amazing, one minute it was down the runway and before you even heard it, it was shooting up at 5000ft/min and gaining speed.
