Quality - Red Arrows over Guildford!

I wasn't being patronising towards you, sorry if it came across that way. It's just that A340's climb like absolute dogs when full of passengers and they're renowned for it. I was trying to make a joke out of it!

It wasn't directed at you, sorry if I came across as a pleb there :)

I thought it was only the -200 with the puny engines that had those problems and that the larger -600 engines had gone a long way to fix this issue?

Flying empty, the A340 was quite impressive for such a large jet.

I thought I would be most impressed by the Mig-29 - in the end the F-18 pipped it for me. I've never seen anything like it.

Watched both days from my garden.
MiG29 = :cool:

Was a good show.
Last time they had the Stealth bomber - shame that was absent this time, although they didnt have the MiG last time which was good.

A380 was chubby :D

The A342 and A343 are by far the worst. The A346 is slightly better but the problem is that even though it has bigger engines, they've made them useless by making the aircraft bigger and able to carry more weight. Flights going out to places like Pakistan, India, Nigeria, Kuwait etc. mostly seem to operate at absolute maximum weight every time they fly and thus have pretty crap climb performance. It isn't a massive problem, just really frustrating when very busy and we need the bloody things up and out of the way.

Oh how I love Gulfstream V's.

Excellent, I just saw a formation of 8 or so Red Arrows fly almost directly over my house in Guildford  I went to close the window because its starting to rain, hear a loud jet noise approaching, thinking "uhoh, a heavy on approach for Heathrow is coming in low again", but instead its 8 Red Arrows in a wedge formation, and flying extremely low, no more than 1500 feet over the ground

Where could they be headed to? They were flying in a northern direction...

They're always flying over our house :)

Do they have 2 sets of planes? 'Cause I saw them fly over once... and then another set of them.

Craig.

went to fairford the other weekend and was very impressed, apparently it was a much longer and more interesting red arrows display they were aloud to do there, farnborough get a bit fussy what with all the housing around it and all..... well according to the Red arrows pilots i chatted too :D

The MIG was totally nutty, the sicamoreing, and just general mucking around it can do in the air is astounding!

Didn't catch much of Farnborough, but my gf works at bae there so got some great photos of the a380 landing etc :)
