When I was younger I tended to buy cheaper items, but more of them (clothes, food etc) but have noticed over the last 3-4 years I would rather get less, but of a higher quality. And no, i'm not rich.
I would rather buy food in a deli than a supermarket, and clothes in a decent store than the knock down places.
So, the question is (finally) do you go for:
Cheap and cheerful?
or
Less but better quality?

Better quality. It might not be applicable to everything but most things that I buy which are more expensive than the cheaper alternative tend to last longer.

A bit of both, also depends on how much money I have.

I do find more expensive clothes have a better fit/cut. But then I don't always have the money to spend. So have a mix.

Things that last a long time, start of cheap and replace with expensive stuff when I can. Especially kitchen equipment.

Bit of a false dichotomy, often the cheaper stuff is better made because there's less incentive to sabotage it. When there is an option... it depends. There are times I'll pay for quality, others I don't mind too much.

It's all very well and good saying that if you spend more initially you'll end up spending less in the long run, but sometimes you just don't have that luxury.

Really? Lyle & Scott polo top like £60 you, there's nothing special about it bar the fact it has an eagle on the front of it. :p

No, but it is probably beter quality than the Primarni equivalent...
Although my original comment was more ment for non clothing items (I know I didnt specify :p)
