Over the last few days and especially this morning, i'm getting emails from most of the companies i'm signed up with, stating how, "on behalf of the company, we are saddened by the death of HM" etc etc etc.

I don't know how i feel about this, put a message/photo on your website - yes. But why do they feel the need to email their customers - smacks to me they see it as an opportunity for another spam campaign and to remind us they still exist - future revenue etc.

1st World issue i know :)

This is no doubt part of it but they're probably also trying to head off customer complaints - "nobody told me you would be closed today, how am I expected to do XYZ now? This is appalling, I want a voucher moan moan moan"

Or to give the Daily Mail some lazy faux outrage piece e.g. ‘TK MAXX QUEEN SNUB SHOCKER!!!!’ Cos they committed some sin like not putting a banner on their website or some other rubbish.

I can’t see the issue, I sent one out for my employer and also received about 300… :D

We sell internationally; a lot of customers wouldn’t know or assume we’re closed.
People clicking through Google to specific products wouldn’t see a home page announcement.

It’s quite literally a once in a (very long time) issue.

The emails i've received, not one of them mention that they are closed, just a condolence message ie:

On behalf of the team at (insert company here), we thank you sincerely Your Majesty, for your service and dedication.

No outrage here, just an observation :)
