Queen wasp in my attic yo (possibly)

Good job you got rid of it! You could have ended up with something like I found this time last year..

The nest was huge! Was probably a couple meters across at the bottom. Smashing it down and removing it was one of the scariest things I've done! Had mental images of swarms of wasps coming out and stinging me!

I wouldn't touch that thing for all the tea in china. Blurgh.

Aren't you mean to leave them in anyway? I thought that wasps wouldn't inhabit a dead hive, but would bit a new hive in the space left by a removed one?

You would have had to have paid me a SERIOUS amount of money to tackle that thing Street

I was told that they won't nest where the queen hibernates. The queen will usually return to the same place each year.

I had to get rid of it as I needed to put some new insulation down and it was in the way. Absolutely crapped myself when I stuck my head up there for the first time and saw it.

They tried to come back this summer too as I could see them coming in and out of the vent on the back wall. Made sure I killed them off this time round before they could build a monster like that! :D

I know that feeling. I had a wasp nest in the roof not that long ago, which was taken care of by a man in a suit with chemicals. A while later I was replacing a light fitting upstairs, unscrewed the rose/mount thing and as I lowered it, sawit was FULL of dead waspsvIN MY HAND. I like to think of myself as being level headed and logical, but I fell off the step ladder (Fine, small coffee table), spilled dead wasp everywhere and ran like a mother****er. I swear that room has never been vacummed as much as it was that day...

It took some nerve to strike the first blow.

Ahhh, I had a queen wasp buzzing around my room the other day. I have an attic room and it seemingly flew out of a hole by the radiator. I think turning the heating on must have woken it up or something.

Didn't manage to kill it, got it out of the window so I suspect it'll be back with a vengeance next year!

LOL thread, i only got a crummy phone pic of it electrified on the bat and it's very blurry :(

will post it if you wish.

On a side note not got to go back in there until 2morrow or sunday, might tape my cloths up just in case, anyone got any ideas for a make shift bee hat thingy??
