It's a harlequin ladybird larva.

I've seen a few of those over the last couple of years- odd looking things.
Yeah, I think you’re right. Never seen one of these before. There are bloody millions of them outside my house.

Legends have it that these beggars can grow to 8 foot long, roughly the shape and size of a small alligator.

Adopting a boxing stance won't be enough if you have the misfortune to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
