Query about changing telephone number

The telephone number for the BT line I use for broadband [Zen] is soon to be changed as it's being transferred with someone moving out.

I'll be getting a new number for the line, but my question is how does the number change affect my connection? I guess I'll need to let Zen know about the new number, and BT about the ADSL connection, but will I have to get reactivated and will there be downtime?

I think it might class as a Cease+Re provide. The same as if you changed the name on the BT bill.

If you don't warn Zen in advance, you might find yourself without a connection. In theory, they can cancel the cease.

"Cease+reprovide" isn't something I can say I've ever heard of, but a quick Google makes it somewhat clear. The request for the telephone number transfer's actually already been made and set to take place this Saturday - I was only told about it this evening... possibly looking up to five working days from what I can gather.

Cease and reprovide's exactly what it says on the tin. Everything gets cancelled, everything gets set up again (with the usual activation time).

I'd be inclined to get on the phone to Zen ASAP.
