A friend had a Vectra v6 (different engine I know) but that was getting around 25mpg iirc and that was an auto

Yea sure, my 2.0 Ghia X used to return 24.9 around town.
Mine was awful, literally.
I didn't ever bother to work out MPG and the car didn't have a MPG readout, but £10 of fuel (110.9 is at the time) would go 15-20 miles max before the fuel light came back on. Bearing in mind it did have an air filter, de-cat and full exhaust system fitted.

Seems it is luck of the draw with these then. Filled up with some v-power to see if that makes any difference, will report back and see if it makes any what so ever.
Speaking to a mate last night who has a 2.6 v6 vectra, he is currently averaging 30mpg according to his obc.

Checking fuelly, my average MPG for a 99T ST24 is:
18.9 (not sure how accurate it is though because it's an American site). The last fuel up I got 21.9 - it maybe coincidence but I did accidentally fill up with Tesco 100ron or whatever it is.
In real world terms, 59-61 litres my car takes to brim and that does me from anywhere between 280-340 miles, depending on if I do a long journey being sensible. Maybe it's time for a full service.

Quick update for anyone who cares, brimmed up with v-power & cleaned the air filter (well gave it a hoover!) and now managed 27.34mpg on my commute.
Hell of a difference, must admit the filter has seen better days think I will get a new one asap.
My mates have commented a few times about a fair bit of 'soot' flying out the exhaust when I booted it, must have been really clogged!

i might have to try giving mine a clean as i get a cloud of black smoke out the back if i nail it
You may not do much better in a Focus ST, i have driven mine like an old lady just to see how high i could get the mpg and managed 28mpg, but have seen it as low as 14mpg on an enthusastic run.
Around 22-24mpg is a pretty good figure for combined imo.. bit lower than fords stated 30mpg.
Not sure if the V-Power had anything to do with it, but either that or the cleaning of the air filter has done wonders to the mpg. Just goes to show that keeping things clean / looked after in the engine department do make a difference!
