I`m looking to upgrade my CPU;Mobo;Memory & Graphics with an Overclocked Bundle but just realised that my HD`s are setup with Raid. This was done by the previous supplier. Now as an elderly non-technical idiot it has only just occurred to me that a new Mobo probably won`t take kindly to a Raid setup already installed. Question is can I remove the Raid without losing my installed software or will a new Mobo mean a completely new setup
Hope someone can guide me
Many thanks
George

People have talked about moving from one ICH10 to another. I think I've heard people talking about successful ICH9R -> 10R moves.

You would have to start out assuming failure, though. Not tried it myself.

It is possible to do if you set up the same RAID configuration on the new system.

Even without a RAID this doesnt always work as the different mobo chipset and things are often installed on first installation so changing the motherboard can seriously bork the OS install.

The other problem is legality, what type of license is your OS?

Thanks Guys - doesn`t sound to promising.

BTW JB - don`t understand what you mean by "what type of license is my OS"

Yeah it can be a little confusing, I assume its Windows you're using?

Did you buy this version or did it come with your current machine?

Oh right - gotcha

I`m using Windows 7 which is an upgrade from Windows Vista which was
an upgrade from Windows XP and that was an original that i installed
