Hey Guys,

I bought a titanx 9 days ago. I got onto my vendor and asked if I could return it for two 980Tis and how much it would cost. They agreed to do this at a total cost of 245 pounds.

What would you do and why? I had sli a long long time ago and it was a bit of a pain - has it improved?

Appreciate the help

Go 980 Ti SLI

A single TX is only a tiny bit faster than a single 980 Ti and you would not notice the difference.

The TX's come into their own when used in SLI at very high resolutions where the extra memory can be used.

This.

Titan X is best when you SLI them at 4K where it's very likely you'll go over 6 GB. For almost every other scenario the 980 Ti is a better buy.

I've ran sli for the last 5 years over various cards and rarely have any issues apart from the odd bit of flickering textures in the background on DAI. Not sure what people mean by all these 'sli problems'

Thanks guys

All those sli issues are a thing of the past I guess?

Depends on who you ask. In a similar thread to this, there was an equal balance of Pro and Anti Sli-ers. In that particular thread the OP clearly was wanting to be given the green light to go ahead with his Sli plans, so he paid attention to everyone saying it was great and ignored those who said it was a pain in the ass.

Been years since I had a dual card setup and it is an experience I never want to repeat....do enough dicking around with PC hardware as it is without inviting yet more issues upon myself.

What you really want to do, is return the Titan X, and get just one single 980 ti, and pocket the surplus cash. If the vendor wants you to use them again, they will agree to that.

Great replies guys thank you. The fact it's only another 240 quid really has.me tempted but I do like having the strongest single card
