My quest 2 always connects to the 2.4 Ghz version of my wifi, rather than the 5 Ghz one, i have a BT Smart Hub 2 is there any way to force my headset to connect to the 5 Ghz version without disabling the 2.4 ghz on my hub as other people in my household have a couple of devices that use the 2.4ghz

Typical just had a google and found a thread with a bunch of people complaining about how my hub (Smart Hub 2) is unable to split out the 2.4 and 5GHz bands. The only work around i have found is to disable 2.4ghz while i use the quest then turn it back on after which is a pain in the ass. Looks like a dedicated hub might be on the cards.

What is the distance between the Smart Hub and headset and how is the signal strength? It may be that the 5ghz signal is too weak and so it is defaulting to 2.4ghz.

5Hz is more affected by walls and other obstacles than 2.4, so its effective range will be shorter unless you're in line of sight of the router.

Something not right with your Smarthub 2 I have it and my Quest 2 connects to it fine on 5ghz and it has a single SSID. I get a 866Mbps connection.

If you want to have a dedicated AP look at the last 4/5 pages of this thread.

I just changed the channel on mine to 11 to see if it made any difference and that seems to have done the trick! I always assumed my quest was connected to 5hz because its about 12ft from the router, i have no idea how long I've been using it at 2.4ghz, i only realised i was connecting at 2.4ghz after installing virtual desktop where i noticed it shows the connection freq, time to go and see if i get a higher bitrate with airlink/virtual desktop now!
