Hi all,

Just bought a Quest 2. Have installed the Oculus app on my PC and added the Quest 2 headset. I've connected the Quest 2 to my pc via the 1m Type C cable that was included in the box. When I test the connection I get the green 'connected and active' message but also an orange 'USB 3 connection recommended' warning. When I test the connection in the Oculus app it says that performance can be improved by switching to a USB3 connection; test results are Bandwidth = 354Mbps, Connection = USB2

Have tried using a USB3 to Type C cable that I also had but still get the orange warning above plus same connection speed.

Have tried on my Alienware 17R5 laptop with both cables and get same message and connection speeds.

Any thoughts? Dodgy headset?

Thanks in advance.

PS: had a Rift S previously and this worked fine (now sold).

The cable out of the box is USB 2 speed as is I suspect your other cable. Make sure the cable you order does state on it "Fast Sync & Charge: Charges phones and tablets with USB-C ports at max speed. Offers SuperSpeed transfer of 5 Gbps—transfer an HD movie in under 5 seconds" or similar.

Ah OK...I had suspected that my other cable was USB2 but assumed that the one in the box would be USB3.

In the process of buying a longer link cable that has plenty of recommendations (not the official one) so hopefully that will work properly.

I have a stack of USB C cables, all transfer at USB 2 speeds. It's a minefield trying to find a suitable cable. Just look for the 5Gbps transfer speed and you can't really go wrong.

Do a Google search for 'TiMOVO Compatible with Oculus Quest Link Cable', 3m for £13 or so.

If you need something longer pair it with an Active USB 3.0 extension for about £15.
