does the quest 2 work ok over usb 3. as opposed to USB C. the g/f son wants to get one but i know his motherboard or gpu doesnt have a usb c connector. IF so any cable recommandations i can only see unbranded ones from the kids in china

yes it works fine
when i bought my Q2 , (s/h) they gave me a 10ft usb-C to USB-c cable
i didnt have USB-c, so bought a usb c to A adaptor, worked a treat
wifi is poopins in this house with thick old walls. want to stick to wired

how long do you want it?
The cable? the pc is in his bedroom and thats where he is going to use it.
In certain cases it's worth getting a dedicated router connected to the PC.

id grab something like this :

so connect the WAN to existing LAN, then router LAN to PC and have on own network... or install a 2nd LAN card specific. .. seems a bit of work for me to setup which i want to avoid lol
why do you need both.. the first one already converts back to usb 3 ?

A Honor/Huwawei 3 router is cheap as chips and regularly on sale and works really well.

That's what I did. £25 and it works great. Dedicated purely to the quest 2.

this one is currently £18.95 ? HUAWEI WiFi WS5200
I'd suggest getting the WiFi 6 model. Tiny bit more but works well.

Might just be it's three years old now and been replaced. Glad I picked one up. Cheap and cheerful, not the best range but great for virtual desktop.
