quest 2 over usb 3

does the quest 2 work ok over usb 3. as opposed to USB C. the g/f son wants to get one but i know his motherboard or gpu doesnt have a usb c connector. IF so any cable recommandations i can only see unbranded ones from the kids in china

Usb 3.1 or 3.2 I think it's required, but it works without C.

Playing wireless is pretty awesome though, much better than being cabled, and with an ok setup, no real difference to a cable.

Quest 2 comes with a type C connector, but an A to C adaptor can be used from the PC to the headset.

yes it works fine

when i bought my Q2 , (s/h) they gave me a 10ft usb-C to USB-c cable

i didnt have USB-c, so bought a usb c to A adaptor, worked a treat

In certain cases it's worth getting a dedicated router connected to the PC.

so connect the WAN to existing LAN, then router LAN to PC and have on own network... or install a 2nd LAN card specific. .. seems a bit of work for me to setup which i want to avoid lol

why do you need both.. the first one already converts back to usb 3 ?

Option A.
A Honor/Huwawei 3 router is cheap as chips and regularly on sale and works really well.

That's what I did. £25 and it works great. Dedicated purely to the quest 2.

I'd suggest getting the WiFi 6 model. Tiny bit more but works well.

Might just be it's three years old now and been replaced. Glad I picked one up. Cheap and cheerful, not the best range but great for virtual desktop.
