Quest 3 accessories thread

Just as a guide I ordered mine from Vortex Virtual Reality on 01/09/26 at 2pm and it was out for delivery in Portsmouth on 05/09/26. I then received it via Ship2me in Jersey on 10/09/26 at 3:47pm.

the Bobo S3 Pro ive been enjoying when gaming a lot more, easier to get on and off, the fan does help not over noisy and you do forget about it.
im currently using the meta open frame interface i got for cheap so lots of air flow.
good balance, i tend not to use the battery as i have an rj45 with usb-c Power distribution inbuilt so charging and playing over a private wired network, works well for me.

i cant really fault the head strap, less faffing than the stock.

my only real complaint is no laying down to watch anything so i'm going to try a bean bag and sort of angled sitting/laying back. for an hour at a time or something.
inserting the quest 3 arms in to the joinds was a bit difficult as in stiff but there isnt really any locking mechanisms as i remember

its a good purchase i do recommend it. its expensive or more expensive than i wanted but the extra comfort makes it worth it for me.

i've used it the last 2 or 3 walkabout mini golf sessions and no ones mentioned the extra fan noise.

cost : 7 / 10
weight : 8/10
value to me : 8.5/10

*numbers may be squeed due to only using stock strap.

Yeah I did ask if anyone could hear mine the other week when I got it, seems to be inaudible..
What sort of fan speed are people finding works well and doesnt run the battery out too fast?

I haven’t used the fan on mine yet, probably why I’m getting close to four hours battery life. I don’t really have a problem with the lens fogging up and have a separate fan to keep me cool whilst the weather is still warm.

Done a bit of googling, google AI says that the battery will last 3 hours with the fan on maximum speed and 4 hours with it off. You've got two batteries anyway so could leave it on.

you guys still liking the Bobo S3? Would you recommend it? Can get one second hand at less than half price.

Yeah I like it, I do need to change the FI though, I'm getting very little airflow even with the open FI on it, it seems to keep the headset cool so thats not then warming my face up, rather than its keeping my actual face cool by blowing air over it..
Deffo get a spare battery as well though.

I'm probably going to use the BOBOVR B100 battery mainly, it lasts me close to four hours. I'll just stop playing when it beeps at 5% remaining then put it on charge. It takes 3hr 10 mins to fully charge. If I feel like continuing playing I can always use the headsets battery, that gives a further 1.5 to 2 hours.

I would probably order another battery but I'm not sure if I can have it delivered, even through my shipper in Portsmouth being its a battery going to Jersey. Certainly Amazon won't ship it but that was the same for the BOBOVR headset and battery.

One thing I’ve noticed is that the external battery pack doesn’t charge the Quest 3 own battery. It solely powers the headset, this means the Quest 3 own battery gradually discharges. Mines down to 93% now since I last charged it a few days ago.

Not saying it’s a problem and I quite like the fact it works this way.

My Bobo S3 arrived today from Vortex and tbh i am impressed, imo its more comfy than my KKCOBVR, it feels just a bit more premium. At 70 quid its only 20 more than the KKCOBVR. Just hope the battery does well with me being in passthrough so much, ive had to be tethered to a chunky powerbank up to now which gets tiresome.

I made the same swap, the whole head set with battery is lighter with the S3, just need to sort an FI where I can feel the fan as it seems to cool the headset itself down more than my face, which is still better than nothing as the headset heats your face up anyway...

Well I have noticed it will charge the Quest 3 internal battery if it’s not doing anything else at the same time, so if you’re playing a VR game it won’t charge the battery but if you’re not it will charge it as long as you’ve got the battery attached to the head strep.

Personally I take the battery off the head strap after every use so it has very little time to charge the Quest 3 battery. I only really want to charge it when it gets down to 35% or lower and then I’ll charge it fully with the official charger.

its good isnt it, i can understand how their reputation was earnt. I will say that at the price of all the other retailers for the S3, about 100 pounds, the KKCOBVR isnt a bad idea as its half that price and still decent, but with the S3 being 70 at Vortex then its worth the extra 20 quid imo. This Bobo has also shown me that using passthrough all the time eats these smaller capacity batteries, just like with the KKCOBVR, which was the main reason i replaced it :(

Have you tried the open meta interface with this combo. Should be plenty of airflow over the face.

Yeah got one of them, its my daily driver, I only really use the closed one for DCS..

I find that it blows air over the headset, keeping that cool, rather than my face, maybe its just where I have the headset on the arms, it could probably do with some tweaking..

Perhaps some 3d printed air deflector to move it over your face. Or cardboard and tape.
