Question about Core i5 750 temps

Hi there!

i've recently put my rig together and i was monitoring the temps over the last hour.

i have a core i5 750 running at stock speed, the pc is running idly in the bios. the heat of the cpu is sitting around 44c-45c degrees.

the heatsink im using is the stock intel cpu fan. i was wondering will the temps eventually go down slightly or will they stay around 44 degrees?

also..because its new thermal compound will it take a few days of use to settle in?
edit, the thermal compound was actually pre applied to the fan, and i just slotted it on.

cheers!

did you build your rig an hour ago or is that just how long you've been monitoring temps?
they do seem a little above average, but because of the stock i5 cooler being rather small it will depend on the rest of your case and airflow around it.
If it is your rig was only build an hour ago then ide say it will take a little while for the paste to heat up and spread.
Also have you tried using 2 or 3 temp programs see if theirs a difference in any.

40 odd sounds about right for the stock fan, though idle temps don't mean a great deal, load it up using prime or IBT or similar and see what the load temps are, if it goes much above high 60's low 70's in core temp / real temp then you might need to look at air flow or upgrading the cooler.

okay cheers guys. i think im just worrying.. speccy says my idle temps are now 35c after leaving it running for a couple of hours.

yeah i only literally built it a few hours ago and have had it running for a couple now. it seems to have evened out a little now.

the airflow is good. big fan on the back of the case and a big one of the front.
