Hi guys, a friend is currently going through the house buying process and he is now at the help to buy stage. He's submitted his forms to the scheme and he does qualify, in that he's a first time buyer and he can afford the repayments etc. He's also going through a broker so they have assisted him to apply for the mortgage and equity loan. Question what sort of checks are carried out by the Help to buy agent please?

Why are you/he asking? Does he suspect he doesn't actually qualify? ;)

They will check you/he meet all of the eligibility criteria obviously, along with that the house has been valued correctly...

Hi thanks, I think it's just anxiety . Unfortunately I don't have a clue how this works, so I said I'll ask the guys on here. Do they actually do a credit check as well though?

I don't believe so, credit checks are for the mortgage itself - not the HTB equity loan.

We took one 8ish years ago and don't recall them doing one, it could've changed since though but I doubt it.

Hey,
what are the interest rates like compared to a generic mortgage? I'm going to guess they're not as good. Before getting a loan, I suggest that you tested a few app. The best one I used was Fit My money . I wish you good luck! And remember that the Rich stay by spending like the poor and investing Non stop, while the poor stay by spending like the rich and yet not making any Investments
