Question about Linksys BEFSR41 EtherFast Cable/DSL Router

Could anyone advise whether or not this would act as a hardware firewall?
Can't see any mention of a firewall.

Get yourself a WRT54GS - you won't regret it.

I don't actually need wireless. Would the WRT54G provide the same security functions?
Yes it would - bascially the GS has faster wireless than the G.

I personally don't use the wireless on my router - but it's always handy if I need it. :)

Actually didn't sound right. "I don't need a wireless router but would this wireless router do?" :)

I was actually referring to the 'S' bit at the end of the model number. That's the bit I don't need. You answered my question just fine though. Thanks.

Linksys WRT54GS
Linksys WRT54G

This should explain the S -I think it stands for SpeedBooster.
The Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster incorporates the next generation of Wireless-G (802.11g) networking. SpeedBooster technology is a compatible add-on to standard Wireless-G, which increases "real-world" wireless network performance by up to 35%. Unlike other speed-enhancing technologies, SpeedBooster is fully 802.11 compliant, and a "good neighbor" to other wireless devices and technologies, using a single 2.4GHz channel as specified by the official wireless standard. And, unlike other technologies, with SpeedBooster you'll see an overall speed improvement even when running a mixed network of SpeedBooster and regular Wireless-G devices.

Thanks for the replies, guys. As it turns out, my mate's got a spare WRT54G that he's going to 'lend' me. Been doing a bit of reading on it and I must admit I'm quite looking forward to seeing it now.
