I didn't want to open or post the other threads in fear of spoilers (so please keep this one free of them too!).

I stopped watching near the middle of season 2. Overall, would you say it's worth picking up from where I left off or did the quality continue to drop after season 1?

Thanks.

Definitely worth picking up. I did start getting a tad confused and frustrated as to where it's going in parts, but it always kept me glued to my seat and ultimately I'm glad I carried on. I've watched a lot of TV shows and I can quite safely say this is the best of the best.

Do it. :)

Even if I wasn't overly enamoured with the finale (it gave the show a great conclusion but didn't answer some of the really big questions) I'd still say the show is worth watching but your best bet is to wait a while for the box-set to pop up cheap somewhere.

Go on a buy-spree get them on blu-ray and you will be very entertained! The season that people didnt like as much was season 3 personally i didnt mind it

Meh. Thoroughly unimpressed personally. 1 and 2 were great, i'd leave it at that and watch something else.

The thing is it will be difficult to leave at the end of any particular season because each season promises so much, and then the next delivers so little.

Watch to the end of Season 2 and look up the info as to what happened using Google or whatever.

I tried watching Season 3 and it was just mind-numbingly tedious. First two seasons were usually "answer one or two questions per episode, raise 5 more". Season 3 felt more like "answer no questions, bore the viewer, then remember they need to make money so raise 17 new questions".

In short, they ruined it!

I'm waiting for the release that doesn't include any of the flashbacks/flashforwards/flash-sideways stories that are completely irrelevent to the story and is just back-to-back island action fun. :)

To be honest, having watched every single episode my advice would be not to bother wasting any more of your time. In total Lost was about 90hours of TV (121 episodes * 45 mins) and I have to say that, havibg watched the finale last night, I've realised it was a huge money-making con. The finale (whilst emotional and pleasant) simply showed that the writers didn't actually know or care about what they were writing for all those shows. As as aside, I'm very amused by the people who are saying that if you didn't think the show ended amazingly then you "just didn't get it" . How ridiculous. I understood the whole message but all it showed me was a complete disregard for the the writer's own plots and the viewer's interest.

So, in summary, save your time/money and watch BSG again.

See i agree with lots of people. The finale WAS nice. It was well done, emotional, pleasant... there was nothing wrong with the finale. They just kinda wasted 3 series on stuff they could have skipped for more important things.

If you're going to watch it, heed this: You will never know all the things you want to know. You will get a couple, but the rest will remain an "intentional" (apparantly) mystery. If you find yourself watching it just because you want to know what's going on then... honestly, stop there, and check out Lostpedia. 90 hours is a long time to spend waiting for something you're not going to get.

If you accept the fact that most of it will remain ambiguous but enjoy the setting, acting and plots.. then by all means, plow into it. it IS a good series. The characters are deep, the plots are twisty and turny and the few answers you do get make you go "Aaaah! Of Course!" or "OOhhh No Way!". What it isn't, however, is satisfying. Entertaining, but ultimately, unfulfilling.

BSG on the other hand is actually amazing, and far, far more satisfying (but not perfect!).

Both BSG and Lost have so Do not swear! endings that they will leave sour mouth in your mouth after watching. Sure, the show was great, the ride was worth it, but retrospectively, it does pi s s me off that they simply didn't bother make the plotline coherent and meaningful other than "god did it"/"they all go to heaven"

OP requested spoiler free posts as well

Absolutely! Go back and watch the whole thing definately. Waste just watching a few seasons, you won't get it, trust me, I did it and then decided to go all the way to the beginning and it's far better.
