Just had a very annoying experience with the muppets on o2 chat (wish they knew what they were talking about)

anyway

I am looking to upgrade my contract early, and have the Nexus 6 in my sights

The plans I'm looking at are:

2gb £0 phone £38 a month
2gb £69.99 £33 a month
5gb £59.99 £38 a month
10gb £49.99 £43 a month

My question is if I take out the 10gb plan, can I downgrade to 2gb data via the website once it arrives? This was possible on my current o2 contract, and also my wifes.

basically, the deal will end up being 2gb £49.99 £33 a month

That way I can save £20 :D

Thanks

I Don't know if it works or not but it seems abit risky. Best case scenario you save £20. Worse case scenario your paying an extra £240 over the 2 years. Doesn't seem worth it to me.

They only allow 14 days for you to "cancel" and they have set bands to which they will allow you to move onto but you would have to cancel the contract first and then after 24hrs choose a new tariff.

I have 8Gb and if i want more i would have to cancel my existing contract and then choose a higher data tariff on a higher tariff. This is what they told me but im SIM only with 02

^ That has not been my experience at all

My current o2 contract was £38 with 5gb data. The very day the phone was delivered, I logged onto the my02 website and changed the data to 2gb which knocked £5 off the bill.

I did the same with my wifes o2 contract, and my mums about three months after they had their phones so way past the 14 days cooling off peroid. I'm not talking about taking out or moving to a new contract, I'm asking about changing the data allowance on the existing contract. This was called a data bolt-on iirc

This was six months ago, and although I'm sure this is still the case, the risk in being stuck on a higher priced contract to save £20 is not worth it, so I'm going to go for the 2gb plan anyway.

You could try and if you can then great but i thought you could only downgrade or upgrade every three months????
