Question about powet adapters, from someone who should know better!

Hi guys, so I have a Dell precision T5400 which has an 875W Dell PSU with 2x 6 pin PCI-E adapters.

Would it be a reasonable idea to use a dual molex or dual sata power to 6 pin adapter, and then a dual 6 pin to 8 pin adapter so I end up with a 6 pin and an 8pin?

I've done the maths and the wattage etc seems to work out correct.

*edit* it seems I can't type either when I should be able to. If a passing mod would be kind enough to correct the typo in the title it would be much appreciated
