Question about price increases.

We've seen a lot of hardware going up in price rapidly over the last 6 months. Will motherboards and processors also be increasing in price, or are they likely to be stable?

I ask because I plan to upgrade mine over the next two months, I'm just wondering if I should prioritise one over the other in case of price increases.

Thanks.

Well they could go:
Ohh dang no one is buying our motherboards because DDR5 is CRAZZZZZy so we better do a discount or give them a games key for Halflife 3.

Or they could go:
Ohhh dang no one is buying our motherboards we've got bills to pay so we need to put the price up so we don't go bump...

The only thing that is certain is that building PC's is a mugs game ATM and everyone is being taken for a ride.

If I was on AM4 unless I needed it for work reasons I'd now be waiting until AM6 is released before upgrading.

I’d hardly say it’s a mugs game. It’s a crap time for sure. But if you want to upgrade, and can afford it, you can buy. That doesn’t make you a mug… you’ve not been fooled.

What would be nicer if shops sold at their standard markup on the stock they had/have rather than based on the price to restock.

But running a business doesn’t work like that.

The high demand is for ram chips and flash memory, so I wouldn't expect CPUs/motherboards to climb that much (at least, nowhere near RAM/SSDs).

If you see a good deal on RAM/SSD, I would buy it, providing the source/warranty status is sound, so that you're not in trouble if you don't have the other parts within 14/30 days.

Looking at you sig, you have a decent AM4 setup. I would just ride it out until this AI nonsense goes away and prices return to a sane level.

But it's your choice, if you have the cash and want to do it, then do it.

copper can't be that much of the price of the board? 10-15% of the board at most, but I don't doubt that some will use the excuse to increase the prices anyway.
can't wait for the bubble to pop and the fallout to impact normal enthusiasts anyway rather than all the big tech co creating the hype.
