Hi all,

I was just wondering how much cheaper it would be to build your own system in comparison to buying a prebuilt one before I make my decision.

Thanks.

depends on what build your looking at, and if you want the agro etc, as that must be worth something, give us an idea of what you want / looking at, and a budget

It all depends on the parts you want, since different parts have higher markups e.t.c.

Don't forget pre built ones come with 2 year warranty and support e.t.c, so don't factor them out completely just to save some money. It takes a lot of the hassle away.

But you are probably looking at saving around £100+.

there is not goign to be much in it..

low end pre-built is going to be a bit cheaper
high end pre-built is likely to be slightly more expensive

(when compared to byuying all the bits)

don't forget the extra time and possibly issues of building it yourself...

I would be able to build system I reckon but when it comes to overclocking etc I am not so sure.

Budget would be £1200 but I would like that to include a good sized moniter and a copy of windows 8 in that and if I can save money I would like to.

I am still in the process of working out my build but off the top of my head I would like a half decent system that will run the latest games into 2013, comes with a good blu ray/dvd burner, an SSD to boot my OS and a few programs from, 1TB HD.

From what I have read overclocking seems like a good idea as I can increase my performance without having to spend more money (correct me if i am wrong please)

Thanks.

which is nothing, i've built 4 pc in dec and bought 2 pre built, time taken to order / build and setup - update add drivers and stress test it then back up and transfer data plus add there old programs can take a while, so £100 is a good price and well worth it sometimes.

for pre overclocked stuff it's well worth it, as if you do it yourself and blow it, no one will return it as no warranty etc

Some great advice guys.

If paying an extra £100 gets me 2 years warranty, less stress and support I will just pay that.

Do some of the prebuilt systems come overclocked? And how much extra will it cost?

depends again on systems

£1200

all in plus o/s and monitor etc :)

Don't forget though, the warranty support e.t.c is worth the cost god yes. But I personally find the most enjoyable part of a PC is putting it together.

enjoyable when it goes right, agro when it doesn't

depends on level of experience and how much help / parts you have spare to test stuff with if it doesn't work etc.

plus time and space

That system looks very good but I just have 2 questions.

Will it read/burn blu rays? This is something I have to include.

Should I bother with a touchscreen monitor for windows 8?

Thanks again.

touchscreen, not needed, and no to blue rays

LG CH10LS28 BD-ROM 10x BluRay ROM / DVDRW SATA-II Optical Drive

a extra £30 so take out older one and fit one of these, there's plenty to choose from, retail if you want the software, oem of you have your own

Dont bother with touchscreen monitor waste. You can always get later if you really want but personally touchscreen is for tablets.

No it doesn't include a blue ray drive of any kind but if you call up OCUK they will swap it for one if you pay the upgrade price. In fact you can change anything you want just ask them when ordering it.
