Hey all,
Just looking at which ram to buy, and I am wondering:
Is there any performance gain in games from using PC2-6400 ram over PC2-5400 ram. I am looking at either the G.SKill PC2-5400 or OCZ PC2-6400
EDIT: Now the choice is GeIL PC5300 or Corsair XMS2 PC6400 (if they come back into stock in the next few days)
What I am mostly asking is would the extra £35.25 be better invested into another component?
Current build planning to buy:
OcUK 9700GS 256mb
Gigabyte DS-3
Hiper 580W PSU
E6300 Conroe.
I intend to do some overclocking, since I head you can get an extra 0.5 GHZ out of the E6300 easily, and much more than that if I put some effort into it, but I am not going to go crazy on the OCing.
EDIT: OK, I heard that G.Skill and defiantly OCZ have compatibility problems with the DS3. I need ram that will defiantly work with the DS3, without bios updates. I have no spare DDR2 ram to do a bios update with, assuming the computer has to post to update bios.
