I've heard that upto 16 devices can be connected to one bus, so can multiple hard drives be daisy chained to connect to one connector on a card, and can multiple cards be put in a computer and raided? Also will 64bit pci cards work in 32bit pci slots?

Depends on the card, but you can fit (Im pretty sure) 7 devices on one channel. So you get a long ribbon cable with all the connectors on (I think the last one is usually a terminator). You can RAID on one card but I dont think you can raid across multiple cards.

Would the raid be done in software or hardware?

Someones offering me 3x hp 18gb scsi drives and an ultra 160 scsi pci 64-bit card for £70, my motherboard has 32bit 66MHz pci slots so a maximum transfer rate of 266MB/s. But will the scsi card be able to deliver the full performance, or will it be limited to 33MHz 133MB/s?
