Afew days ago I finally got my eVGA 6800GS CO SE PCI-E.

Of you guys who still have a stock HSF assembly on your card, have any of you guys heard a rattle when your card is working hard on a game?

I was playing IL2, and I noticed a rattling sound coming from my PC. I at first thought it was my south bridge fan giving me issues, but I noticed the sound went away after I exited IL2. I checked my temps on my south bridge and they were at a pretty normal 31C. Now my New 6800GS became the suspest, so I entered the game agian and flew around alittle and I noticed as time went on the rattle became more noticeable. It is not constant, but it is an annoyance. I exited IL2, and I had used riva tuner this time to track my core's temps and I noticed that I got a max load temp of 66C. Now as soon as I exited IL2, the temp dropped like a rock and I didn't notice the rattle any more.

I have a VF700-CU I can stick on there, my only issue is that I don't have the small screw driver I would need to get the stock HSF off. But what do you guys think it is?

The backplate on the card might have been vibrating on the back of the case when the fan spins up.

My 6800NU used to do that.

Your aircrafts engine may have been overheating in Il2!

Well that could be true. That dang new Raiden's engine is a hot one!

But on a side not I ran a quick flight when I was off line, and the issue never happend agian. I still reached up to 66C, but thats a pretty safe temp for a 6800, isn't it?

I figured 66C wasn't pushing things, unfortunatly this temp in in the dead of winter. I know that temp will rise 6C in the middle of summer, and part of me really doesn't like that idea.

I ended up breaking down and buying a AC NV5 rev3 cooler. I also have a zalman VF700-CU, but I liek the idea of useing the AC better due to the fact that the AC cooler vents the hot air out of the case, while the Zalman doesn't.

since its an eVGA 6800GS, will I void the warrente if I put on either of the coolers? Also if not, how do I get that stock cooler off?! Its built like fort knox from the looks of it!
