Very tricky to find modern road cars in Plastic Kits nowadays. Mainly due to the hobby being in a massive decline and raising costs of plastics and increasing licensing costs from the manufactures of the car being kitted into a plastic kit.

Its actually important to remember that a plastic kit is created from moulds, and to create the moulds and kit the machines to cast the plastic sprues and CAD the car into a kit costs thousands, and mostly this cost cannot be returned, as the company would need to sell thousands of the kit. And this cannot be guaranteed so the company doesn’t take the risk.

Resin kits, such as S27 and Model Factory Hiro needn't sell in such large numbers, as the moulds are mostly regarded as garage, are still done with CAD but are much smaller and cheaper to produce, and resin kits are only released in very limited numbers, hence why they cost so much. However, Model Factory Hiro tend to kit their resin kits to be almost complete, such as huge detail, and lots of parts, so in a way you do get what you pay for.

Basically, if you want modern race cars, expect to pay a lot for a resin kit, if you want a modern road car, you may have problems finding it.. Unless its a Ferrari, seems to be plenty of them appearing just lately.

And in the UK www.hiroboy.com and modelsforsale.com are the better places to buy your kits.....

Never spray ANY paint on thick. Always mist coats first, then slowly build up. No need to rush

Agreed, but its also in the prep work.

Alex Kustov, a fab builder and someone who I took a lot of inspiration from..... All my models are built using his techniques http://michael616.fotopic.net/

Finally, after about three or four mists, you can still apply a wet coat to get that superb rattle can shine... Its tricky, but you finally get the hang of it...
