I'm thinking of getting possibly the Raven 2 or 3, (exact model not decided) and I was wondering about the noise levels of the Silverstones.

My current P182 Antec is near silent, Noctua on the CPU and Zalman controller on the 4 case fans.

How easy are the cases to work with?
Would the Noctua NH-U12P cooler fit?

I have a raven 2 and they are as easy as any other case to work with. decent sized holes to run the cables through, a high/low fan controller. only word of advice is install your HDD's before your motherboard as the motherboard will get in the way.

Yep same problem here with the Raven 2 - cannot get to the hard drive or optical connectors without removing my graphics card and if you want to get to the hard drive cage you have gotta disconnect the full motherboard ...

Personally I would go for the revised Raven 2 Evolution as it has a far better hard drive layout that isn't fouled by the graphics card or motherboard.

So Raven 2 evo would be better than the original 2.
But OcUk only have the Raven 2 evo in white?

Had a look at the Raven 3, bur judging from its pre order thread I may want to stick to version 2.

I wouldn't discount the Raven 3 till some reviews are out. I think it'll be even better than the 2 for cooling, and the cable management/layout are ace in my opinion. The only thing I really don't like about it is the gold trim, but paint can fix that (white gloss would look good I think).

How are the stock fans on the Raven 2/evo?

I understand they do have inbuilt controllers.
Can you adjust them to make the case cooling totally silent?

As for the Raven 3 Id probably wait till a few people have reviewed them here before considering one as an option. Moving the PSU to the bottom of the case, the fact that there's only 2 intake fans and the external 'styling' kinda put me off it.

My FT02 is much quieter than my P182 with similar spec systems in them, but i7 4Ghz, 6GB RAM, 3HDDs and 58xx GPUs. Also the FT02 is definately the best case ive ever worked with.

Hawker

FT02 here. The fan noise is audible even at the lower speed. I added a totally quiet Corsair AX850 PSU and a Scythe fan controller and have the case fans at about 390-420rpm and I think the system is about the quietest I've heard (or not heard)

How does the Fortress 2 compare to the Raven 2 evo?
I take its more than bezel styling that separates them.

No, that's it. Same steel frame internally, same fans, same everything. The FT-02 has a nice big slab of aluminium around it, whereas the RV02-E has plastic panels.

Another question for Sliverstone owners.

These cases are drawing air in from the bottom of the case, what kind of surface do you have your case on?

Would it be a problem if the case was on a carpet with long pile or should it be either propped up or placed on a hard surface on the carpet?

The FT02 costs a lot more than the raven 2 though even if it does have foam on the inside you can buy the rv02 and some acousti foam and still have change left over.

If you want a more subtle look then i'd go with the FT02 me personally i went with the RV02 white purely cos i like white cases and the layout is the same for a lot less cost
