It would be nice if you could put in yellow writing the reason why you close threads instead of leaving people like me baffled.
For instance the 'Hospital These Days' thread, I haven't got a clue why you closed that and Groen had actually made a good point with his last post.
There was nothing offensive in there and people giving great accounts of how they were treated.

The 'Big Man' thread!!
Once again the thread didn't need moderating because people were behaving themselves and then suddenly it's gone.
A nice reason why in yellow writing would have been nice.

Just a thought.

Oh and I already know this will be closed but I do know the reason why.
(Whining cry baby thread)

The hospital threads were duplicates so they maybe the mods only meant to close one of them but closed both by mistake?

Some threads DO need moderating regardless of what you think. :)

Some threads aren't always closed because of bad posting or derogatory issues. More often than not we leave a comment - often it's fairly self explanatory.

lololol

Moderators do as they please in regards to enforcing the rules (which need clearing up anyway), they often have a lot on so that might be why they've not always given a reason, I'd of thought some threads speak for themselves but others could indeed to with some clarity.

<Insert abuse from Justin here>

The was another thread the other day about terrorism at the Olympics by that Aberystwythlad guy that was actually quite good until it got spammed by people who hated him, pretty sad to see it deleted just because a few losers decided to flame somebody for making a decent post on a discussion worthy topic just because they disliked him :(

That Big Man thread was like a really poor version of Groundhog Day. That's probably why it got locked. The thread wasn't going to progress unless any more news came out about the event, which is very unlikely.

I agree though, just one line at the bottom of the thread explaining the reason, even if it is self explanitory.

Bear in mind Mods don't always have the time to reply to a closed thread - it's sometimes better to contain the thread, close it rather than wait to do something about it and let it get out of control.

So why was the 'Hospital These Days' thread closed?
I was enjoying reading posters experiences and then all of a sudden it went.

There is more info for the Train thread so can it re-open?
For instance the Ticket Inspector has been put on 'holiday'.

It only takes 2 seconds mods to write a comment why you are closing the thread, no excuses!

No excuses are necessary. If the thread is deemed unfit to continue it gets closed.

We'll try to let people know why, but if there's a reason we shouldn't or we just don't have time, then you'll just have to learn to live with not knowing.

Not giving an excuse actually makes life harder for the moderators because they end up responding and possibly moderating further in threads like these!

The difference there is that we have time at the moment.

If we've closed a thread when we don't have time that's the situation and it isn't changing. Sometimes I'll do it from my phone, I won't take the time to respond to the thread, I'll just close it.

[edit]I don't mind responding to general quesries but if you have a question about a specific instance or incident please contact the mod or admin that was involved. If you don't know just pick your favourite and mail us. We try to refrain from responding on mod decisions on open forums, as there's no benefit. We get whined at whatever happens.
