Question for those using 123reg as a webhost: Can you host more than one website?

Havent heard back from them yet, emailed them yesterday to ask.

I have 3 domain names registered and purchased from them.

One of the domains, I purchased webspace from them for. It gives you a control panel that you can manage your domain and hosting through.

The other two domain names give you a control panel to manage your domains through.

I'm wondering whether they want you to have to register and purchase seperate webspace for each domain name you register with them?.

Would seem a bit of a waste, as the website I have up and running at the moment is only around 1.5mb in size just now and I wanted to add a couple more to the webspace.

It's probably a fault at my end as far as the way I'm uploading the files I reckon. I have tried uploading the files using CuteFTP to a seperate folder in the webspace but it doesnt seem to work. I'll take a few screenshots and post back.

Here's a screenie of the hosting in CuteFTP's window:-

On my hard drive, I have the folder "Robins" as you can see in the picture.

So on the webspace, I created another folder called "Robins" and then opened the "Robins" folder on my hard drive and selected all, then uploaded it all to the "Robins" folder on the webspace.

This is the contents of the "Robins" folder:-

But it doesnt seem to work once you have done that and then type in the web address of the website. Even though I have it uploaded to the web, how does it actually display in a browser, as in how does a web browser know that the site is called www.indagatio.co.uk.

In Namo Web Editor in the sites remote site properties, I've put the web address into the HTTP properties box. So where am I going wrong?.

The other website, www.firstdriving.co.uk is working fine, but it, as a registered domain name with 123Reg, has had the hosting there purchased with it so is that why its working and the other one is not?.

Or am I just uploading the files wrongly?.

For some reason, if I start of with an empty webhost and then create a new folder called "Firstdriving" and then upload the first driving website to that folder, it doesnt display properly when you try and browse the site online. If I just upload the website straight to the webhost itself, not a seperate folder, it displays fine. I'm sure I'm going wrong somewhere here!!!!???.

Almost certainly. You may be able to cheat if they let you use frame forwarding for your domains, though :)

Looked in my Control Panel and under "Web Forwarding" found this:-

Top of page:-

Bottom:-

At the moment the url www.indagatio.co.uk is set to "No web forwarding" as you can see.

I'm reasonably new at all this, so any advice on how to set the above up for www.indagatio.co.uk would be hugely appreciated. :)

That's confusing - the first is talking abnout firstdriving.co.uk which you obviously don't want forwarding for (because that's the hosted site), whereas the second talks about indagatio.co.uk o.o

"URL to forward website....to" = Presumably firstdriving.co.uk/robins (or whatever you named the folder), if firstdriving.co.uk is the site you purchased hosting for :)

Might need to enable the web forwarding option, too. Dunno.

Fiddle! :)

My mistake, got the pictures mixed up.

Both are meant to show indagatio.co.uk.

First driving is the site that has the hosting, indagatio is simply the domain name registered, no hosting.

So for indagatio, an ideas how to try and get around it with the web forwarding?. How do I configure that?.

Thanks for replying!!.

Select 'Framed Web Forwarding', and then "URL to forward website....to" = Presumably firstdriving.co.uk/robins (or whatever you named the folder) :)

So I want web forwarding for www.indagatio.co.uk, so select Framed Web Forwarding and URL to forward website......to: www.indagatio.co.uk and what else?. The www.indagatio.co.uk website is contained within the Hosting8.123Reg.co.uk folder in my FTP on the webhost. Its in the folder called "Robins" which is lumped in the "/" folder ( I assume thats the root folder? ) of the host space along with the www.firstdriving.co.uk website files.

Upload the files for the site to a folder in your hosted account, then point the domain to that URL.

ie, upload the files to a place you can see from firstdriving.co.uk. Like firstdriving.co.uk/indag. Then point indag to that URL :)
