Hey guys noob here. I have a questIon for all you veterans.just built my first ever computer at the weekend and tbh it didn't go too well.basically the first time I switched it on the psu blew up and scared the crap out of me as I thought I had just melted my new mono and chip.I connected my old psu after checking everything was ok to see if it was just the psu that had stopped working.comp wouldnt recognise my keyboard and mouse after bios, but somehow after I installed a new os onto hd they started working.I didnt want to keep my new comp on for too long as it is only a 400 watt but it is reliable.one thing I did notice was that the temps seemed a little high, according to the bios and few other 3rd party softwares my CPU is 35 with nothing else running and the mobo was 45.right now I have left the comp off till new 850 watt psu arrive, don't want to take any chances.my question to you guys is,are those temps a little high and what could be causing them to be so,do u think the psu might of been the cause?sorry for the long post.specs are as follows: 17 950,sabertooth mobo,6 gb corsair ram, antec 1200,akasa venom heatsink, intel 40 gb ssd and 1 tb seagate barracuda hd. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Oh and the psu blew because it was a cheap 500 watt ocz piece of crap! Learnt my lesson, defo won't chance using crap cheap psu's again.

Ah ok,I thought compared to other temps posted on the forums they might of been a little high.I am just using the paste issued with the venom heatsink, should I invest in some decent paste? Thanks for your reply

Ye get some good paste. Temps are a little high on your chip but not overly high that i think omg but if they were like 5c lower they would be right. Could be warm in your room or cool and quiet could be on so your fan is running slow till you start up a few programs. Could be loads of things. Just dont worry till they get to 75c

when in windows use core temp or real top to check
