Is it normal for my windows boot times to increase a fair bit with 3 other hard drives connected?
I have the main ssd as my 1st drive, then have the 1tb Samsung UJ version, then 1tb samsung SJ version, then the 2tb F4 UJ
Had a look on forums etc for any info on ssd's slowing down with other hard drives connected but could not see anything definitive
If I unplug the other hard drives and reboot, windows starts a bit faster but still not like it was when I 1st had it installed
TRIM is enabled as I checked it, and im sure I had bios set to ACHI mode when installing 1st time with no other hard drives connected
Any suggestions?

I guess OS will still need to initiate communication with the drives but I've not had any problems with two additional HDDs connected.. Not that i know because I'm happy with the response and not tried it without. That said it surely depends if anything in the startup process is accessing anything on the HDD.

This I reckon!

My Force3 takes about 20 seconds (ish) to boot.

Now this is by no means slow, but is slower by 4/5 seconds than my boot without my WD Green and F3 plugged in..

All the programs that boot from SSD work within seconds, if I want full functionality of all programs takes maybe 1/2 seconds, so yeah think it will all depend on your startup...

If you had any of the HDD's connected when you installed Windows on the SSD then some operating system files may have been inststalled on a HDD.

Well im pretty certain that I had the ssd plugged in on its own at 1st as I wanted to sort the other drives out after
In a way it doesnt really matter about the boot times too much as before boot up time was over a min by the time all icons etc had loaded, now its almost instant once booted!
Will never look back now ive got this ssd, will get a much bigger size in the future if the price drops

Windows is always at it fastest when it first installed..

Windows updates, drivers , cache , temp files ,installed apps, games, browsers, etc etc slow it down over time
