Question on a saying..

At work, the other week a lorry driver comes up to me and says,

'Alright fetler(not sure if thats correct spelling, but looks ok to me), can you check my brake lights are working please'

Never heard the term 'fetler' before, whats it mean?

At a guess, someone who "fettles" with things.

In your case, someone who "tinkers" with mechanics.

To fettle means to tinker with around here, so yer a fettler is a mechanic I guess in your case
