Hey, i was thinking about getting this boardGigabyte GA_P35_DS4 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
. But then my friend asked me where the sound card goes. We are both still learning about these things you see. It says 2xPci-e slots. But does the sound card go in one of them? If so, then how can you use cross fire? Also, i was wondering how many PCI slots it also has as iit doesn't say.

If anyone could do general annotating on the picture of the board that would be a real help! Thanks.

Thanks.

:EDIT: After looking at the sound cards and the graphic cards. I see now they are different sixzd PCI-E cards. But, it doesn't tell me what sizes i get on that board?

Im presuming ill get enough differnt ones to plug in everything though.

When I say the bottom I mean the bottom when installed in the PC - ie at the extreme left in the picture.

If the card is a PCI-e sound card it can go in the small brown slots between the orange and blue PCI-e graphics slots that go vertically on the pic

Thanks so much :)

8 sata ports is a lot lol.

Im worried now though, im going to have to have a look at my current pc inside because im going to be using some of the parts out of it for my new build. But its quite old and i beleive the hard drives and optical drives will be IDE. I dont think there is enough slots in the board for three optical drives and a hard drive which are probably all IDE.

If you don't want to switch them to SATA right now then your best bet is the Asus P5N-E Sli 650i board. It's what I got as I had 3xIDE HDDs and 1xIDE DVD drive. It has 2 IDE ports so enough for all 4 drives.

yeah i know. But i want to go down the P35 board way really.

I gues ill have to buy either a new CD drive or a new Hard drive and plug one of them in the IDE slot. They will all eventualy be upgraded. its just extra costs i didn't want to pay just yet.

Btw, would you say that P35 motherboard is a good overclocker? i was told it was, which is one of the reasons id liek to buy it. Secondly the DDR3 and support for the new CPU chips.

Also, it says the bios is "DualBIOS" ive seen quadbios as well. Does that mean that i should get the motherboard with quadbios as im going to be using a quad core?
