I have a 360 connected to my PC Monitor. I bought the converter from a high street store, it's not the official one though.

It connects the XBox to a VGA blue plug which goes into the back of my PC monitor. I have resoultion set to 1920x1080 in the system setup, but the main menus, and to a certain extent, games, still seem a bit 'fuzzy' (for want of a better description.

Comparatively, 1920x1080 output from my PC is mint crystal clear.

Am I missing something? Have I done something wrong? Or is it simply a case of not being a straight HDMI out signal going into the back of the monitor. On the box for the vga converter it does clearly say XBox VGA HD etc etc.

You have bought a non-branded, and probably cheap VGA lead, so no doubt the wiring will be unshielded and give you a blurry fuzzy image.

One of the reasons why it's best to buy the official VGA cable.

Yup, I've got the official lead for when I take the 360 to LANs and the like, and it gives me a perfect picture (though as mentioned VGA is a little softer (but not fuzzy) than HDMI).

Perhaps fuzzy was the wrong term.

I have a button on the bottom of the monitor that swaps between DVI and vga, and it's just instantly noticable when I press it to go between Windows and the XBox home page. Nowhere near as sharp, for the same resolution.

The Dashboard always renders in 720P AFAIK, so it'll be being up-scaled to 1080P, which is why it wont look as sharp as your native 1080P windows desktop.

I actually just gone trough this very same issue, had a cheap cable, then tried the official one and I am afraid it didnt fix it (for me anyway).

I bought official cable from a major high street store. The colours are a bit better in games, but the main menus are still very poor.

One thing sticks out a mile though, how bad xbox 360 graphics are compared to a gaming pc.

If the signal output is 1280x720 then it's always going to look blurry on a TV capable of 1920x1080 no matter the cable. It'll only look crystal sharp on a TV with a native resolution of 1280x720.
