So my 4090 FE does this annoying buzzing kind of noise that is coming from the top/right fan.
I’ve recorded a video demonstrating it and hopefully everyone can hear it.
The bottom/left fan doesn’t buzz and only makes the normal wooshy sound of airflow.
I would really appreciate comments from 4090/4080 FE users on how that fan sounds for them as I will start RMA if it’s not normal.
The sound is very annoying especially when the card is under low or no load and the fans are still spinning.
My case and cpu fans are completely silent unless under heavy load and the only thing I can hear is that buzzing coming from the GPU.

Sounds awful. Would RMA if it were me. Only ever had this with case fans, where a mix of the exact same fans contained a dud which I had replaced.

tbh, I don't own an FE card, so not sure if it's "normal" for that rear fan to sound like that. Hopefully other members can help. But for me, personally, with the cost of these cards I wouldn't accept that fan noise.

I can't say I've heard a noise like that from my 4080 though the original card arrived with a dead 2nd fan. The GPU was replaced via RMA.

Start the RMA process ad link your YT vid and that should help to speed up the process.

Thanks. Will wait for a few more comments here and then start the RMA.

It does sound awful and the only reason that it’s somewhat bearable is the fact that the card hardly ever goes to 1200-1300rpm but even then it’s very audible.
At over 1300rpm it’s actually unbearable and I know that when we will get heatwave it will spin to that and more.

I know it's a different series, but nothing like that on my 3080 TIFE.

That would bug me to hell, I'd be RMA'ing that sucker.

Yeah my 3080 FE didn't do that despite running at higher rpm.
I've updated the video which is now showing the issue better.
I will start the RMA process now.

Do I start the RMA process directly through Nvidia or through uk reseller.?

You can do both actually. Nvidia will give you a shipping label (they pay) but they usually send it back to Hong Kong. They do have an advanced RMA offer though. Might be easier to handle it through the retailer though.

Good to know thanks.

ive got 4090 fe and mine sounds the same as that, assuming its cause of pulling the air through making it have different sound profile to regular fan

Ah so finally someone with the same card.
This was my assumption as well but I wanted confirmation from other users.
Hopefully we’ll get more users chiming in.

So Nvidia support got back to me and claims the noise coming from the fan is normal after watching my video.

Weird as my 4090FE doesn’t make that noise!

It has a bit of a whooshing noise if it stretches it’s legs but no buzzing noise at all.

Just listened to my 4080 FE and manually upped the fans to 1500 RPM.

My front fan is noisier if anything with some buzz from the middle of GPU. The rear fan mostly sounds of rushing air. At 1300 RPM stood up with the case lid off (it's a desktop case on the floor currently) I can only hear normal fan rushing. No obvious mechanical buzz.

I can hear the buzzing even at minimum 1100rpm at which point it is probably the most annoying after I stopped gaming and the fan is still running for a few minutes.
I will keep nagging Nvidia support as I don’t think this is good enough on a £1600 GPU.

Have you tried it with your case fans off? It could be that other fans in your case are disrupting the airflow or balance of the fan and would explain why some others don't get it.

I was thinking of that myself and will try that next.

Edit: just tried that and it made no difference.
