question when rebuilding RAID?

hi guys, small noob question, when you rebuild RAID array, i take it you have to reinstall operating system??????

very vague question but assuming you have only a single array, if its raid0 then yeah, but if its pretty much any other type that offers either striping/mirroring then, no.

It depends what you define as rebuilding. If you're recreating a RAID0 array to change the stripe size for example then yes, all the data will be wiped and you'll need to reinstall everything.

yup was raid 0, and got it on 64k striping, is 128k striping, better for performance??, also i thought i would have to reinstall o/s , p.s whats the maxium best setting to have for raptors on raid 0?? thanks for quick replys all

You can always use Ghost or Acronis True Image and restore a backed up image to the new array if you're only changing stripe size.
