The longer the hardware drought continues, the more I am considering not even buying a new PSU, GPU, CPU.

Aside from wanting to give my daughter a better GPU (hand down my 2060), I have no real reason right now.

I am genuinely beginning to question whether I should spend 1500+ on new hardware.

Do I want new kit? Heck yes. Do I need it to play games? Heck no.

I might even end up just paying scalped prices for an rx 580 for my kid and be done with it.

It does seem to be a lack of stock and crazy prices even for old tech, when will it end?

Good question. I wish we knew.

I'm actually looking at buying an FSP Hydro G Pro 1000W psu, and the only reason I'd buy it, is if I thought that the stock situation would get even crazier...

Perhaps an opportunity to stock up on SSD's are other items instead lol :D

Are you currently in a queue for anything? If you've not secured a place, I'd sit tight until everything settles down. It sounds like your build is good enough for your needs and you could always go used for your daughter's upgrade.

Not in queue. I typically refuse to pay scalpers prices for anything.

Ideally, I'd like to get a 5600/5800 6800 XT, maybe a 6900 XT if they sort the power limit situation out. The hype is dyeing for me though the longer I wait it out.

This. I don't need or want any PC components right now. I did an 'upgrade' earlier in the year using mainly 2nd hand parts. My early adopter days are behind me.
