Questions about a soundcard.

Hi everyone,

Do you reckon it's worth me getting one? I find the onboard audio on my P8Z77-V LX2 to be a bit fuzzy at times. I will be getting a pair of AKG K550s and am planning to spend about £50 on a soundcard so would be looking for one that wouldn't hamper the sound quality of the AKGs.

I was looking at the Asus D1 7.1 but literally have no idea what's decent and what's pointless even buying.

Will that sound as good as a 50 quid soundcard though? Will it be worth me spending the extra money or should I even bother with a soundcard?

I just picked up a sound blaster z oem for <£50
They are meant to be good. Just need to decide on speakers now. Edifier or MicroLab.

With decent headphones (such as the AKG 550s) the cheapest card I would look at is the Creative Soundblaster Z OEM. The headphone amplifier is probably the area that gets improved the most as you move up the sound card price chain.
