Hi there, to all the enthusiasts out there, ive received help from you guys many times before so here goes again.....

im planning on building

64 x2 3800
xfx 7600gt/x1800xt (if it's still cheap then)
2 x 1gb corsair value select/geil value
250 gb SATA

so my question is this, currently i only play in resolutions becuase the tft only allows 1024x768 max (lame i know).

If i do opt for a decent gfx card, will i still be able to see good framerates/reap the benefits of a good card (i.e. x1800xt), or would it only be worth my while to stick to a half decent card (i.e. the 7600 gt)? and second of all what is bottlenecking (i have a vague idea but im a bit of a noob) and with this setup will this occur ?

i have a decent enough example for you.

look at my signature for my pc spec...........now in css stress test at 1280x768 widescreen res i get 156fps with everything maxxed out.

when my sandie core was at stock 2.2gig i scored about 145 fps.

11fps difference from a 600mhz overclock?? thats low, because i'm guessing my 7600gt is bottlenecking the rest of my system. if i were to put an x1800/1900 or 7900 series graphics card in it would probably blaze past the 200fps mark.

hope that makes sense.

and by the way i am getting either a 512mb x1800xt or a 512 7900gt next week :D

if you do get an x1800xt you will(like me) need to get a monitor with higher res or it really would be overkill.

Then i guess my reply to you is......

If i do get a 19" widescreen acer monitor, will the game play at the same resolution as the monitor? if that is true then will the game not require a more powerful gfx processor ?

If the game supports the resolution, which most do but some older ones don't, then yes the game will play at the monitors native resolution (1440x900, I've got one by the way, great monitor, especially for the price!). I'm not sure about what graphics it'd need, as I've got SLI, but one of my 7800GT's can handle it in most games with medium/high settings so anything on par with that should be fine.

the x1800xt from what i gather is very powerful and would probably handle 1600x1200 in most games. so a 19" at 1280x1024 it will devour.

sorry i missed the widescreen part.

yes it would trounce that res, but be careful as support for 19" widescreen resolution1440x900(i'd guess) will be thin on the ground.

personally i'd go 1280x1024 if your on a budget, or 1680x1050 if you can stretch it.
