Questions about closed water cooling loop?

So right now I have a plan to get a closed liquid cooling sometime in the future and I don't know which one is optimal h100, h(whatever) are the only brands I know right now.

- How much difference is the sound compared to air cooling?
- Does the pump itself make a sound or is the sound purely on the fans?
- Is it worth it to create more space in the case? Which I can't put a fan on the side over my GPU because the evo 212 is huge and the copper things sticking out.
So with something much smaller I can put a fan over my GPU making it cooler / increase airflow(?)

1. FANS:

If you get the right fans, then the system could be basically silent. Also depends on the air cooler.. some are quite load, some are very quiet and also depends on how fast the fan is spinning to how much noise it makes... everything is variable

2. PUMP/FAN NOISE

Again depends... you can buy some pumps which are pretty silent, and some cheaper ones that can make a slight noise, but generally pump noise is minimal

Fans... again variable. Depends on the fans you use and what speed they are set to. My Bit Fenix fans are silent, but my Aerocool fans are quite loud at times. Corsair Fans are usually the way to go for water cooling.

3. SPACE

The evo 212 is a tiny tower cooler compared to some be quiet and arctic coolers...

What case do you have?

You don't really want to add fan that hangs over your GPU, that will just mess the whole airflow cycle in your machine up. Primarily you want one/two fans at the front and a rear and/or 1 or 2 top fans as exhausts. Side fans are good for gpu cooling as well but all depends on your case.

My Corsair 200r has 1 front intake, 2 side intakes, then 2 top exhausts and then push/pull exhaust on my CM AIO. My temps are really low and I am very happy with the configuration of the airflow.

Increasing airflow can be achieved by making sure all unnecessary cables are out of sight and tucked away and having the right configuration. Again, what is your case?

4. MONEY!

Biggest factor for closed water cooling loops.

1. DO YOU HAVE £300 to spare for a good loop?
2. Can you AFFORD a loop?
3. Can you really be a***d to make, design and look after the loop?
4. What if you make a slight mistake and it leaks, taking the GPU or MOBO with it?
5. Why not just get AIO coolers instead????

Take a look at something along the lines of a H80i or similar for cooling your CPU, then depending on your GPU, get a NZXT Kraken and a cheap Corsair H55 or similar for your GPU.

This will be cheaper and easier to maintain in the long run. Take a look at the image below:

That is what you want!

Oh, I thought closed loop and AIO cooler were the game. @_@

What is the difference between a h80i which is one fan sized rad compared to a h100i or whatever which is a 2 fan sized rad?

Also don't think I am too bothered with a GPU cooler, taking the front off and all that seems too much hassle.

Also, my case is a carbide r300

carbide is fine...

H100i is a dual slot 240mm radiator, so that will fit in the top of your case... that can handle a haswell E processor overclocked... one of the best coolers out on the market now and worth the asking price.

Taking the front of your GPU is fine... only a couple of screws... the attach the kraken and then the AIO cooler onto the gpu core.

I would stay AIO if I were you. cheaper. easier to maintain and safer.

Aios are not quieter than a decent air cooler,at least defiantly not with the fans they are provided with.

If quietness is a priority the only AIO's worth consdiering are the Krakens x41/61.The Corsair AIOs from my experience are loud, and the fans absolutely need replaceing as the stock ones are a joke.

If your lookin at h100 ect just skip them get this instead
YOUR BASKET
1 x OcUK Tech Labs - Value 120 Kit £105.05
Total : £114.65 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Far better

As stated... depending on the fans you use...

Nothing is worse than the jank fans Corsair provide with their cases and coolers lol :D It actually narks me off they bundle them with their high-end/expensive products

Plus the kit would itself perform better than any AIO

A DIY kit... i'd leave it and just get a H105 or similar... its going to be easier to maintain and easier to install.. ok buy 2 extra fans, better fans... but still better in my mind than having to build a loop, then test it and maintain it every couple of months or so with new coolant, and cleaning it out... damn AIO's are there for a reason... EASY AND SIMPLE!

- How much difference is the sound compared to air cooling? The same 99% of the time
- Does the pump itself make a sound or is the sound purely on the fans? if it as moving part it makes a noise of some sort
- Is it worth it to create more space in the case? Which I can't put a fan on the side over my GPU because the evo 212 is huge and the copper things sticking out. I have water cooled ever system i have had in the last 9ish years, so i am biaset, but YES :D
