Yes.

Where do you think we came from?

No idea.

Do you think major pharmaceutical companies withhold certain cures to benefit their own profits?

No. Unless you can provide some evidence, or cures for which diseases? Although I know you are unlikely to reply.

Do you think power companies withhold major advances to maintain their profits?

Perhaps, or at least they have a good idea of the next generation.

Do you believe in aliens?

I believe there is 'life' in some form somewhere, yes

Where do you think we came from?

Hopefully the LHC will tell us that! :p

Do you believe in aliens?

Where do you think we came from?

Yes. Not necessarily "cures" but more efficient treatment

Yes, see above.

Probabilities say yes.

Who cares, people think too much about the past.

Yes.
Do you think power companies withhold major advances to maintain their profits?
Yes.
Do you believe in aliens?
I don't know.
Where do you think we came from?
Not sure, but I highly doubt it was by chance.

Do you think major pharmaceutical companies withhold certain cures to benefit their own profits?

Of course they would.

Do you think power companies withhold major advances to maintain their profits?

Same answer as above.

Do you believe in aliens?

Yes. It'd be very bloody arrogant to believe that Earth is the only planet to evolve life.

Where do you think we came from?

Primordial soup + lightning + evolution = Us. Or maybe: Primordial soup + comet/meteorite + lightning + evolution = Us!

Do you think major pharmaceutical companies withhold certain cures to benefit their own profits? Of course.

Do you think power companies withhold major advances to maintain their profits? Yes. No business survives without profit.

Do you believe in aliens? No. Other life forms, maybe.

Where do you think we came from? Evolution.

go to a third world country and you'll find your answer there

Do you think power companies withhold major advances to maintain their profits?

look at the army, you'll find your answer there

Do you believe in aliens?

go to area 51 and you will find your answer there

Where do you think we came from?

I think we have grown into what we are today, I dont believe we evolved from apes but I do believe there is simply a very strong resemblence. our brain might have been at a similar level but then so is a cats to a dogs, a whale to a shark and a rat to a mouse.

I think we have always been humans, even as cavemen we was never described as apes, the person to have invented the wheel certainly wasnt an ape. when a species evolves, the whole species evolves, not a segment of it. in argument though you can compare the sub catagories to seperate, compare a black man to a white man and you can easily see different features. this is the equivelant of comparing types of horse, there are types of human of which are by coincidence seem to originate from particular parts of the world.

whether evolution depends on where you are in the world or not I do not know but it does bring up new questions. apparently all life is meant to have originated from africa. and yet to the north of this is the sahara desert, the most dead of all deadlands. but in argument to that, look at south america which broke away during the prehistoric period. (no humans inhabited the land to my knowledge although Im probably wrong.) that flourished possibly to lack of human inhabitance. but now as you hear all the time the rainforests are being cleared. I really cant say and I am now trailing off subject.

to answer the evolution of ourselves - I would like to think we are getting more evolved over time but I highly doubt it as what proof is there? our technology? our technology is developed work from our ancestors, the first still camera was in the 1800's and possibly researched before that (you can easily google that as I done a paper on it before) but our technology is made not from our brains improving, but our research and understanding expanding. you dont see us changing - you see our creations changing and at a much much faster rate to the point where we can say we are acting as gods (cloning/artificial intelligence/robotics etc etc). But us evolve? no - I just think we have a potential to be better people as long as we permit ourselves to stop, think of the correct way and do it rather than thinking and doing blindly.

look at our laws. they are far far far from perfect and we openly acknowledge this. but what do we do to stop it? how long did it take to stop capital punishment? why are americans allowed to hold deadly weapons in public after all the deaths caused by it? why is a single person defendent innocent until proven guilty, but a business is guilty and has to prove its innocence?

again to my initial statement. We have always had this capacity to understand and learn, but the data must be given to us first and that is what stops us.

I cant see us changing thinking about it. look at the apes, gorrillas, dolphins, seaguls, the platupus, penguin and many other creatures we dont so much have data on. admittedly we havent studied long enough to be able to prove the evolutionary theory, but we have been around since the stoneage, and all that has changed is what we have learned and not us ourselves.

Yes.

Do you think power companies withhold major advances to maintain their profits?

Yes.

Do you believe in aliens?

I thought Highlander was more convincing.

Where do you think we came from?

Mummy's tummy.

Do you think major pharmaceutical companies withhold certain cures to benefit their own profits?

Quite possibly.

Do you think power companies withhold major advances to maintain their profits?

Quite possibly.

Do you believe in aliens?

No, but neither do I believe in their non-existence.

Where do you think we came from?

Probably just the random result of a random series of random events. I certainly don't imagine were created by an omnipotent being. Of course I can't claim to know either with anything even approaching certainty.

Do you think major pharmaceutical companies withhold certain cures to benefit their own profits?
Almost certainly
Do you think power companies withhold major advances to maintain their profits?

Yes. Also tyre and car companies.

Do you believe in aliens?
I do, though I'm not sure we'd even recognise them as life.
A quote I like: Sometimes I think we're alone. Sometimes I think we're not. Either way, the thought is staggering.

Where do you think we came from?
Not even going to try and answer this one. Evolution was involved, but what got us to start evolution in the first place, I've no idea. Makes my head spin if I think about it too much.

Do you think major pharmaceutical companies withhold certain cures to benefit their own profits?

Almost certainly

Do you think power companies withhold major advances to maintain their profits?

Even more likely

Do you believe in aliens?
I believe there is other intelligent life somewhere in the universe, aliens coming to earth however I do not believe in.

Where do you think we came from?
Comitary debris hitting the planet many millions of years ago.

I thought Highlander was more convincing.

*puts fingers in ears and chants*

Highlander 2 never happened... Highlander 2 never happened...

Do you think major pharmaceutical companies withhold certain cures to benefit their own profits?
They'd probably like to, but there are just so many people working for them that such tactics would get out very quickly.

So no.

Do you think power companies withhold major advances to maintain their profits?
This is a bit more likely, as they could keep looking at them in the name of "research" until they can switch profits to them and away from oil.

I'll go with "probably"

Do you believe in aliens?
Alien life? Almost certainly.

Little green men flying all the way to Earth to cut up a cow and anal-probe a redneck? Not so much.

Where do you think we came from?
Panspermia theory means that even if the odds of life arising from primordial soup are one in 100 billion, it's still going to happen on one planet in the universe. Then all it needs are friendly meteors. Follow up with some serious evolution, and Bob's your uncle and Mohammed is your distant relative.

Do you think major pharmaceutical companies withhold certain cures to benefit their own profits?

Given how you've worded the question I would say no. They are plenty guilty of only pursuing cures that are applicable to the more profitable Western markets though.

Do you think power companies withhold major advances to maintain their profits?

Again no. If a company had developed a breakthrough technology they would be racing to implement it so they could crush their competition. All they are guilty of is not implementing advances that would be beneficial for the environment but which are costly. Hopefully that won't still be true in a couple of decades time.

Do you believe in aliens?

It's a pretty loaded term these days but yes, yes I do. We already know the universe is ridiculously large so just think how many other stars out there have planets lying within their respective habitable zones as ours does.

Where do you think we came from?

I'm not entirely sure since I haven't read a huge deal on the subject. Given my above belief in extra-terrestrial life, panspermia does seem a quite logical explanation although it still doesn't answer the question of where did life come from. For the "home-grown" alternative, I do struggle with the idea of basic unicellular organisms just appearing out of the primordial soup. Yes we've shown that if you heat up a flask of goo and zap it with electricity then you can get amino acids and the like, but how does that extra leap to proteins and nucleotides and cellular structure occur?

I've always believed the last thing the governments would want is a cure for cancer. It would cause the complete welfare and pension system to go into meltdown.

Yes I do believe in aliens, It always makes me laugh in films when aliens invade earth and we fight them back. They are probably too busy laughing at us fighting each other.

Oh dear, I can tell I'm going to be incredibly frustrated reading this thread tommorow. Here come the armchair scientists :p

Do you think major pharmaceutical companies withhold certain cures to benefit their own profits?
Without evidence I cannot be certain, but I think it's very likely they do.

Do you think power companies withhold major advances to maintain their profits?
Without evidence I cannot be certain, but I think it's very likely they do.

Do you believe in aliens?
I believe that intelligent life exists elsewhere but I doubt they've visited earth.

Where do you think we came from?
Evolution has my vote until something with stronger evidence comes along.

I beleive in anything factual where evidence is proved, but i dont want to be an atheist so i keep religeon out of it. its better to live a life with beleifs than not as i think it creates intelligence and provides conversations.

But i dont beleive in aliens simply because their have been to many tries to fake these sort of things to beleive if their was anything to come of it that in all certanty (at least in my head) i would beleive it still to be a fake.

Their has probably been many cures to many dieseases but as stated by someone in another post i can remember, the world needs death so untill we are living on other planets i think they will hold on to these dieseses.

1. Yes, because it makes them more profit to treat the symptoms rather then the problem

2. Yes, you can see it quite often. Mainly if your in the Government or Tech industry.

3. I'd like to believe aliens are real, but we'll only ever know if someone pops down and took over our communications and told us, otherwise the government wouldn't, due to wide spread mass panic.

4. I think we evolved but the building blocks where manipulated via outside sources.
