Queueing card question

Like most 3080 purchasers here I have been getting the weekly update emails and following the thread on them.

This week it was reported the card I pre-ordered had 10 units come in... so I waited for the queue update and it has gone down by just one.. Is that right?

EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 XC3 Black Gaming 10GB GDDR6X PCI-Express Graphics Card

Just curious.. In all honesty this has gone from frustrating to kind of surreal, I can't wait to pre-order a 4080 ;-)

I wouldn't bet on them taking pre-orders on 4000 series. It must be really frustrating waiting for an evga card, I hear that evga operate a waiting list for the USA, and so I wonder how many cards they send to the UK rather than to those on their USA waiting list

Thanks for your answers. I am not going to bother customer services. They must be being dragged through the wringer on a daily basis. I was just curious.

Gibbo posted a update yesterday in this thread. To be honest I would probably give up and get my money back now, especially if waiting for a Asus, MSI or Gigabyte card. By the time these come available (if they ever do) the next generation could be out. It's a ridiculous situation and the massive price increases are disgusting. I have completely given up on the idea of a upgrade for this year and possibly even next year if this situation keeps up.

Numbers are looking terrible on 3080 and 3090 for March with no forward shipments coming from any vendor.

Cards not listed above is because we no longer have back orders, a dire situation considering were more than six months on and stock is still terrible, our advice now is customers request a refund via the online form.

How hard would you be chasing stock though if you're selling at a loss, let's say OCUK are losing £150 per card for each back order shipped. Just the 1200 outstanding MSI cards come to a loss of £180,000

I'm sure OCUK would just like to cancel all back orders and it may well happen at some point but it's a tough spot for them to be in right now as you're either going to upset a lot of people or take a large financial hit.

They are a business after all and I'm sure they are not going to want a significant loss on any the 3000 series cards. I can't remember the original price of the series 3000 cards. Lets say adding up the above who are waiting. The 3090 there are 394 still waiitng. Lets say the 3090 has gone up £500 per card from the original price.....that's £197,000 and the 3080 with 5093 still waiting. Lets say that's £200 on top of the original price.....£1,012,600, so an grand total of £1,209,600....!!! I feel refunds coming on, which isn't good, but no company is going to want to take that kind of hit???

unfortunately due to the worldwide chip shortages I doubt the 4000 series will be coming any time soon. all we can do is wait for stock to come back for the 3000 series or wait at least a year for production levels to start to catch up with demand

This is why I think they will cancel all the orders and refund the money, because no one is going to get their cards anytime soon.
People have already been waiting 6 months, do you think they will let people wait a further year?
Not forgetting that these people have already paid for those cards too! I don't think I would want to wait 6 months having paid, let alone a further 12 months!
The cards will be out of date before they get them, that's if they get them, Nvidia may just cancel the 3080 and just produce 3080ti with 12GB of VRAM??????
While we are on about money, I take it OCUK, pay an invoice after receiving the cards from the manufacturer?? So if that money is sat in their bank, how much interest have they earned in the 6 months since the release???
Just saying.....

I'm assuming you are asking about a seller other than OCUK: I have heard it rumoured that at some places prebuilds get priority.

I know it sounds over the top, but it might be easier just buy a prebuild with a 3000series GPU. Then either break up your own build and sell the parts, or replace your present GPU with the prebuild GPU and sell the parts of the prebuild???
Radical just to get 3000 series card.!?
If anyone wants to build a new PC anyway, this might be the best way to go??
