quick 4870 question

Yep thats pretty good I got a lot less than that. However 3dmark6 is very poor to benchmark 4870 as its heavily optimised for Nvidia cards.
Driver cleaner freezes for me-never finishes whatever test i pick. Just let it find the first lot and close it,usually only takes a few seconds to find all the files.
I'm on vista 64,is that what your using?a friend of mine also has vista 64 tho and his works fine...

YOUR KIDDING RIGHT, 3dmark06 is optimized for ATI cards and thats a well known fact, how do you think the 2900HD sat as the fastest card on it for so long even when the 8800GTX was king.
I think there will be a great many people who will dispute that claim - i however will not as i don't know either way. What i will say is that 3dMark06 is heavily CPU dependent which is why even the beastiest GPUs often return modest scores.

If i remember this was an extreme case of nitrogen cooling not an everyday thing. I never seen anyone with a 2900/3870 get anywhere near the scores of a 8800gt/gts when they were released. At the moment 3dmark06 favours the 8/9 series cards more than the 4 series. For instance a heavily overclocked 8800gts with a decent quad oced can get you over 17k but in real life gaming a 4870 will be much faster. Vantage shows the new series cards in a better light.
