Getting the CPU RMA'd for old problem I'm finally fixing (potential memory controller fault as RAM slots were not being recognised on two separate motherboards).

Which batch is the best overclocking? Gonna hope to ask for that specific replacement batch so I can get a 4.5Ghz model back. :o

was the memory compatible.sounds daft but many asus boards have compatibility issues x99 platform.google it.

also adjusting voltage can make it show up.

as for cpus batch j batch seem to best good many i know who just got them recently have l batch and do well also.

I tried all of these and concluded the issue must be in the CPU, as the memory was compatible. Adjusting voltage did nothing as it was inconsistent.

I have an L batch which does 4.5Ghz @ 1.195v stabled with real bench stress test 1hr.
All I can say is that not all J batch are good, not all L batch are bad. It's just that the possibility to get a good one from J batch is higher than other batches.

While 1hr isn't enough, I want your chip anyway haha.

And yeah, I know. Just figured if I could ask for a specific batch I may as well as go with the one with the highest chance of good clocks.

You did run the memory in the correct slots. A1,B1,D1,C1?
Mine has a right fit if i try run them in any of the other slots A2,B2,D2,C2 unless i configure it in the bios.

Mine is L batch 4.5ghz 1.25v. Will do 4.7ghz 1.335v :)

if you google about memory not showing up in x99 boards you will see quite a few different boards have it.

adjusting voltage
swapping to other slot then back
bios updates
cpu reseating

some mem is just incompatible with certain boards.

Use Asus suite Auto OC. Just set the voltage you're happy with and let it go, and it can even do stress testing for you.

I've done mine and it got me to 4.3Ghz on all cores at about 1.25v. I'm more than happy with it.

Guys, I already did all of this months ago. The best explanation I came to was the memory controller, and someone else who RMA'd his chip for the same problem fixed it with another one.

So I'm gonna do the RMA. The memory is listed as compatible with the board and should be fine, and memtests showed the memory as okay, etc etc.
