Just had my mate on the phone saying he's seen an 04 C4 VTR+ for sale for aound 5k with 1 owner, 16k on the clocks, excellent condition and full service history. He has asked me to go and have a look with his gf but I'm unsure on what to look for on this car. Are these another french car to avoid due to reliability issues?

Thanks

Edit: Title should read VTR, not CTR :o

I realise that a low mileage 1 owner 6 yr old car has either been diven to the shops now and again it whole life or has just been clocked, so the usual signs for wear will be check for. My main question is what are the C4s like, worth having or something to avoid?

I'm not sure if my sarcasm detector is faulty as its twitching, would you recomend a Citereon to someone you know or if a a mate mentioned they were going to look at one would you not say anything?

I drove one for my company for a lot of last year, was the C4 VTS +. Its a citreon and boy dont you know it but you know what i didnt mind it ... Went up and down the motorway without bother and was quite comfy (shame about the rank interior) Was the 2.0d which seemed poky enough

Not a bad motor, better than i thought anyway

Ive got one - yeah **** off :o

:D

Seriously though, ive currently got an 05, 4 door VTR+ version... 1.6 petrol.

Now to me it drives nice, but thats because I came from a 1996 1.1 Ford Fiesta Sapphire. Its cheap enough to keep on the road, I used to bomb up and down the motorway with it no problems. Its comfy and spacious enough and id assume on par with most other cars in its range.

Some things to check; Electric child door locks (anything electric really) as ive had them go, the windscreen washer is run by an electric too would you believe (that also went)....
