I need some rechargeable C cells for a dive torch.

I've priced them up, aprox 12 quid for 4 2600mAh

I've not seen conterters to make AA into C sizes. I have loads off high power AA batteries (2700mAh)

My question is:- does a 2700mAh AA last as long as a 2600mAh C cell? Am i right in thinking they about the same power?

Even though the energy stored may be the same (say 2600mAh each) I think the larger sized cells (C, D) are able to provide a higher current than AAs or AAAs. Hence why they used to be used in big ghettoblasters etc.

(Recall the scene from "Do the Right Thing" - where Radio Raheem has to go to a shop to buy 20 'D' Energizers for his stereo. :o)

think i might have seen them on the high st, but its a competitor so can't name. I always thought that the different sizes were due to the cost of manufacture. i.e cheaper to make a larger higher capacity battery than a small one. Hence why there used in things light stereo's, the stereo is fairly large anyway so using large batteries isn't inappropriate.

It is a cost issue and a waste of time buying for something used twice a year.

I have a good AA charger and good AA cells.

On the other hand my main tourch takes 8 D cells at 10000mAh
