Think ill take ur advice then and get the gigabyte board and an SSD.
Which begs the next question: can I just clone the OS onto the SSD from my currrent drive or install fresh onto the SSD?

Id say fresh install. But there's a firmware update for the m4 drive which makes it like 5x faster. Hence why its so popular
