I currently have a xfx 5770 and was wandering if CF would work with a XFX 5770 xxx edition or would i need to have exactly the same card?

It should work fine although from a recent test on another forum even though the faster card will not be downclocked there was no performance gain with just 1 card being faster. His results showed only showed a gain when both cards were overclocked the same, if I can find it I'll add it later. I would try it out but I'm not home until monday to see if it's actually true, maybe someone else could.

Thanks for the reply Jeffyb/strawberry. Is the xxx edition simply a factory OC'd version of my 5770 because i have mine running at 960 core and will set my new card to 960 aswell?

I was only thinking about getting the xxx edition as it is currently cheaper than the standard xfx 5770 on OcUk

Cheers, cleared up any doubts i had about getting the card.
Think the extra card shows it's worth JeffyB as i can see you have a pair of them in your sig.

It really is a formidable setup and very cost effective, there are plenty of us with crossfire 5770's to help out.

Think i will make the purchase then, much cheaper option than buying a single 5850/70 looking forward to being able to up the AA without my fps falling below a playable rate. Will no doubt need some more advice when i get my hands on another card! :D

One thing I have just noticed your psu is 450w, it may not be enough to run crossfire as ati recommend 550w if I remember correctly.

Yea i wasn't to sure about it either, i posted a thread about it the other day and things came across as it 'could' work due to it being a quality psu. If it don't might just look on the MM or buy a new psu, i really want to head down the CF route not and a PSU want stop me ;)
