Quick check of my shopping basket before ordering please?

Actually most of the time I seem to be spec Corsair or XFX :p

All depends on the OP and what offers are on.

You don't seem to mind the OCZ above anyway from a previous spec:

:p :p

Stop making up quotes by me :)

And I don't have posters of OCZ PSUs on my bedroom walls.

I'd also go Seasonic made if it's not a huge extra, though Be Quiet are very good too (just always seem out of stock).

1 x Microsoft Windows 8 64-Bit DVD - OEM (WN7-00403) £73.99

Could get a higher end GPU, but the 7850 is a good place to start.

Finally adding a decent air cooler when your ready to have a go OC'ing the CPU.

Well had a little adjustment of basket from yesterday taking in to account the advice you guys offered yesterday. I would really like to stick with Intel and will eventually add a GFX card in a month or so's time.

This is how its looking now. Added a SSD as it might be easier to have it up and running straight away and I've already got a 2TB WD Green drive to go in.

I've also knocked the BD on the head as I have an Oppo blu ray player in the lounge and this won't be used for watching films etc.

I'm also not sure about the H100 but at that price it'd be nice to give it a try or would I be better just buying a decent air cooler as I don't plan on OCing for now at least!

Pay day today so itching to get this ordered :D

In that picture you have a CPU that won't overclock (tiny OC at best), mobo that will overclock and a refurb water cooler.

So basically taking the risk of a water leak, without any gains from it at all, as you wont be able to do any real OC'ing.

You'd be much better off with a i5k, same mobo and £25 cooler for around the same price.

3rd revision...

H100 removed.

PSU swapped for a Seasonic G series 550w modular PSU.

Kept the CPU the same as the K series is an extra £50 and at this stage I don't plan on OCing. Happy to keep mo-bo as it looks a beast in black and gives me the scope to change CPU at a later stage.

As for GFX card I'm not too sure yet. I'd like it to run like flight simulator/sim city etc on full screen with settings to high, however from looking at the spec requirement even a £100 gfx card seems more than capable?

Do you have £4 more for the Z87-D3HP?

Yes mate, is it a better board?

Budget isn't overly strict or tight I've just tried to be realistic with it rather than spending £1200 on a machine just to browse the internet and play simcity.

Hopefully I'm just about there but if I can stick to around £600 and still have a decent computer that I can upgrade in the future then I'll be very happy. You guys have already pointed me in the right direction :)

Thanks.

This would give you everything you need to get going right away:

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI HD 7850 OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Cards with FREE GAMES £119.99

1 x Corsair Carbide 540 High Airflow ATX Cube Case - Black £113.99
1 x Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 AMD 970 (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard £89.99
1 x Samsung 120GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE120BW) £86.99
1 x Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" Generation 3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (PV38G160C9K) £53.99

1 x OcUK 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £15.95

If/when you want to overclock put in a £25+ air cooler and you can hit 4.0-4.5GHz nice and safely.

Fairly future proof and should manage simcity with ease.

Thanks Potty,

Would rather stick with the intel CPU, don't know why just prefer them

I'd also like to stick with a Cosair or Seasonic PSU after reading a few bits online and for the small difference in price.

Not too worried about getting a GFX card straight away would rather get a decentish basic system first and then add stuff like a dedicated GFX card and a better cooler.

Think I'm pretty happy with my basket now although still happy to hear any final adjustments!! :p

It's your money mate buy whatever :)

Just from my point of view it's a bit daft to pay more for a Z87 mobo with a non-k chip to be honest.
